Per-payment figures are the all-in total divided by 3 and rounded. The number of payments and the schedule differ by partner — Happy Pay splits over 2 — and your own plan depends on that partner's approval. You see it in full before you confirm. Fares are the lowest seen for a sample date about six weeks out, not a quote; airline pricing moves constantly.
Best time to fly
Weather, crowds and fares move together in Seychelles. These are the trade-offs.
April to May and October to November
The transition months between monsoons — calmest seas, clearest water, best diving. Widely considered the sweet spot.
May to September
South-east trade winds. Cooler, breezier and drier, with choppier seas on some coasts.
December to March
North-west monsoon — hotter, more humid, with heavier rain but calm water on the western coasts.
Before you go
No malaria
The Seychelles is not a malaria area.
Expensive
Costs are high across the board. Self-catering accommodation is the usual way to manage it.
Island hopping
Most trips split time between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. Book ferries and internal flights ahead in peak months.
About Seychelles
The Seychelles are a scatter of granite and coral islands in the western Indian Ocean, and the beaches — huge weathered boulders against very clear water — are as distinctive as the photographs suggest.
Mahé is the main island and where the airport is. Praslin and La Digue, reached by short ferry or flight, are quieter and hold the best-known beaches, including Anse Source d'Argent.
Getting in from the airport
Seychelles International (SEZ) is on Mahé, about 10 km from Victoria. Inter-island ferries to Praslin and La Digue run from Victoria, and short domestic flights connect Mahé and Praslin. Build the connection time into your plans — the ferry is roughly an hour.
Entry requirements for South African passport holders
The Seychelles does not operate a conventional visa system and has generally issued visitors a permit on arrival, subject to holding a return ticket, accommodation and sufficient funds. An online travel authorisation has been required at times. Confirm the current requirement before you travel.
Entry rules change. Confirm the current requirements with the destination's embassy or consulate before you travel — this page is a guide, not an authority.
