Per-payment figures are the all-in total divided by 3 and rounded. The number of payments and the schedule differ by partner — Happy Pay splits over 2 — and your own plan depends on that partner's approval. You see it in full before you confirm. Fares are the lowest seen for a sample date about six weeks out, not a quote; airline pricing moves constantly.

Best time to fly

Weather, crowds and fares move together in Hoedspruit. These are the trade-offs.

  • May to September

Dry season — the best game viewing, thin bush, cool mornings and lower malaria risk.

  • October to November

Hot and building towards the rains, with newborn animals and green flushes of new growth.

  • December to March

Wet and hot. Spectacular skies, thick bush, harder game viewing, highest malaria risk.

  • April

Drying out and quietening down after the summer rains.

About Hoedspruit

Hoedspruit exists for the bush. The airstrip sits inside a wildlife estate in Limpopo and is the closest arrival point for the central Kruger and the private reserves around it — Timbavati, Klaserie and Balule among them.

It is a small terminal with a short schedule, and that is rather the point: lodge transfers meet the flights and guests are often on a game drive within the hour.

Getting in from the airport

Eastgate Airport (HDS) is a small terminal about 10 km from Hoedspruit town, surrounded by reserve land. Almost all arrivals are met by a lodge transfer arranged with the booking; car hire is available but limited, so confirm it in advance.
